Pathways to Early School Success

Pathways to Early School Success: Building Local Capacity project (also known as Pathways) is designed to help community-based early childhood coalitions support young children and their families, so that children get off to a strong start in school that will help them succeed in the early grades and beyond. To accomplish this, the National Center for Children in Poverty (NCCP) Pathways Team works with early childhood coalitions on community outreach and strategic planning. We focus on strategic planning in the areas of health and mental health, early childhood care and education, and family support. Findings from this project will be used to inform the development and refinement of a set of analytic tools that can be used by community-based early childhood coalitions to update and successfully implement their strategic plan.

To date, we have conducted a pilot study in Virginia, we are currently finishing on-site collaborations with community-based early childhood coalitions in New York, Kansas, and Michigan, and we are beginning online collaboration with early childhood coalitions in Minnesota, Colorado, California, and Oregon.

Pathways is funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
