During 2011 and 2012, NCCP partnered with the Indiana Institute for Working Families (IIWF) to develop a Family Resource Simulator for the state and explore the benefit “cliffs” occurring in several state policies when a marginal increase in hourly wages leads to the complete termination of benefits and a dramatic net loss of resources. IIWF used the research we conducted to advocate for improved work supports for Indiana families, including an increase in family income eligibility to receive child care subsidies that was incorporated into Indiana’s child care policies in 2016.
