Sarah Dababnah is currently working with the Children's Mental Health team on NCCP's Unclaimed Children Revisited project, which examines the state of U.S. child and youth mental health practices and policies. She is primarily responsible for the California Case Study. This project is a follow-up study to Jane Knitzer's seminal 1982 work: Unclaimed Children: The Failure of Public Responsibility to Children and Adolescents in Need of Mental Health Services. Sarah’s research interests focus mainly on issues concerning children and adolescents with disabilities and their families, especially those in communities or countries with limited access to resources.

A former Peace Corps volunteer, Sarah's previous experience also includes a fellowship with a Washington, D.C.-based women’s health nonprofit and various positions with children's direct care services agencies.

Sarah received her Master’s of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University where she also completed a certificate in health and human rights. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
