Launched in 2004, Child Care and Early Education Research Connections is a project of NCCP that contributes to the mission of promoting policies that foster healthy child development and learning. Research Connections promotes high quality research and its use in policymaking by providing online access to over 28,000 journal articles, research reviews, government and think tank reports, and policy briefs through its easily searchable database. It also provides public access to over 300 datasets and documentation related to child care and early education topics, all of which are available free-of-charge. Interactive tools allow users on the Research Connections website (www.researchconnections.org) to refine their searches, download full-text documents, build customized tables on state policies, and analyze research data online.
Research Connections regularly highlights current policy and research developments and resources as well as announcements of grants and events in the early care and education field through its biweekly e-newsletter and on its website. Through its website, Research Connections is the central access point for products of federally-funded early care and education research workgroups. Research Connections publishes its own research-to-policy resource lists and policy briefs.
Research Connections is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation of the Administration for Children and Families in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It is operated in collaboration between NCCP and the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research at the University of Michigan.
